EAGLES 형님들의 1979년 여섯번째 정규 앨범 "The Long Run" 앨범에 수록된 곡.

Side two No.5 트랙. 이 때까지만해도 LP와 오토리버스 없던 카세트 테이프 시절이었으니까.

그 전설은 아니고 레전드인 1976년작 Hotel California 앨범의 바로 다음 앨범인데,

이 역시 700만장의 대박.

이 앨범을 끝으로 이글스 형님들은 1980년에 해체하고 만다.

"The Sad Cafe"는 이글스가 한때 연주했던 클럽 Troubador와 자주 들렀던 Dan Tana's 레스토랑에서 영감을 받아 만들었다고 하는데

저 클럽 Troubador는 비벌리힐스 끝자락 산타모니카 불러바드에 위치한 곳으로

무려 엘튼 존, 린다 론스태드, 이글스, 캐롤 킹, 밴 모리슨, 켈리 클락슨 등이 거쳐간 곳이다.

그뿐이랴 건즈 앤 로지스가 이곳에서 데뷔를 했으며,

라디오헤드와 콜드플레이가 이곳에서 미국 무대를 밟았단다.
